是的,一切都可以在一天之內發生;

One Day -Matisyahu

One day, I was caught by the magic of Matisyahu’s latest album “Light” featuring “One Day” – a song that I never get tired of playing and playing more than 20 times within one day.

Another magical thing about this piece is, it somehow led and moved me to reconcile with someone special in my life, not just because of its “fight no more” message, but mostly because of the serenity it fills my heart with – to the point that it simply couldn’t hold any grudge to anyone at all…..

Hard to believe, and hard to slot that sensation. Nor the nature of his music, though it first came across as reggae…religious…

And for sure, he has nothing to do with “Matisse” or “Yahoo” either.

Here is to “One Day”:

L’altra notte in fondo al mare”  (The Other Night at the Bottom of the Ocean) :

The other night at the bottom of the ocean, my little boy was lying
or in order to drive me mad, they told me he has drowned.
Dawn is fresh, the cell gloomy,

and my spirits, such a
sparrow in the woods,
flies, flies, flies away.
Ah! Pity me!
Into a
lethargic sleep
I lulled my mother,
and,
crowning horror, they say
that I
poisoned her.
Dawn is fresh,
the cell gloomy…

Inconvenience Store

–This could be fun, if you have the time to try it for 60 days.

–Why 60 days?

–It takes 60 days in average to develop a habit, like smoking second-hand…

–That long? I thought only 60 seconds will do.

–Well, we are talking about a real habit that you can’t easily kick.

–And so, what do I do now?

–And so, what we’ve got here is a store for you to drop in every day, and get something in the most incovenient way.

–For instance?

–Pardon me, we prefer “For no instance” here…..Right…Start with buying a banana that’s totally green, take it home and wait until it’s ripe before savouring it. Once the patience builds up, move on to buying the seeds of a rose, sow it into the pot, watch it grow, blossom and wither. Meanwhile, practice deep breathing…”

–And you call that fun?

–Yes, the fun of drawing the fine line between self-torture and nirvana…and don’t forget to wear a watch.

–That sucks.

–Like living…..

Until all is Undone

Looking for a green shop? a green car? a green concert? a green airline? a green government?  a green mascara? last but not least – a pair of green glasses?

May I suggest that there’s really none until all is undone.   The ultimate green zone is the zone of  “none”, and for that matter, a label invariably ”numb”, since existence has always been verified by the opposite: having “some”, or “fun” to say the least.

Which brings forth the fundamental question of why exist?  The frontal cortex knows better…

The ultimate packaging experience is to unpack. The utlimate learning experience is to unlearn.  The ultimate way to living green is “non- living”, really…

Unrealistic and  pessimistic, if not, boring and banal? Yes, and yet we all know there’s really not much more room left for fooling ourselves with mere media drives and endless roundtable talks around the rosy future. The last thing we need is another government or giant corporation merely  ”branded” green.

I’m not suggesting us to cease making a living, making love or making babies – the basic activities that keep all species alive.

I am however exploring the possibility of “doing something by not doing anything”; “doing more by doing less”, which is not unfamiliar to a certain school of philosophers or “living artists”.  Having a foresight of it by observing how species like penguins live,  I, for one, have at least gathered a bit more hope that living is really not about “doing”.

Before bowing out,  I would glady say: “BEEN THERE, UNDONE THAT!

Dances of Wolves

Did you ever wonder whether wolves have soul?

With or without, there is beauty, sensuality, cruelty, immortality in this piece by Loreena McKennit (Mummer’s Dance) x Wolverines.

I could watch it over and over and over again:

Award for Bullshitters

Finally an award dedicated to quintessential bullshitters about the environment – by who else but the brilliant George Monbiot? Check out his mind-blowing blog that always gives me a kick:

That’s no bull-shit, man and ma’am!

Revisiting Ralph

His birthday was May 25, 1803, and after re-reading his works lately, I couldn’t help celebrating his birth while missing the presence of such transcendental mind.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, an American (probably one of the greatest ever in thinking) had such great “soundbites” about nature (taken from his masterpiece “Nature”):

“Nature never became a toy to a wise spirit. The flowers, the animals, the mountains, reflected the wisdom of his best hour, as much as they had delighted the simplicity of his childhood.”

He is one classic icon you couldn’t miss! Check out his works at:

Cliché of Green

Having hopped on this Green bandwagon, I also caution myself from falling into the ultimate pitfall of the “Green Gospel” , which could be easily likened to that of the “Church Gospel”: the proclamation and institutionalization will bring about an unprecedented proliferation at the expense of  internal transformation and  faithful practice.

It could be everywhere, but getting nowhere!

As Ralph Waldo Emerson puts it: “The problem of restoring to the world original and eternal beauty, is solved by the redemption of the soul.
The ruin or the blank, that we see when we look at nature, is in our own eye.
…He cannot be a naturalist, until he satisfies all the demands of the spirit.”

Heavy  stuff that takes some diving…. but perhaps that’s the very core spirit of being green. We were poking fun and making waves with the made-in-heaven party-theme, while all along speeding in full-steam towards hell.

Wonder where the “power of now” comes in….
